Special Olympics Vermont Penguin Plunge
About the Penguin PlungeIn 1996 a few hardy souls jumped into Lake Champlain during the Burlington Winter Carnival and raised $8,000 for Special Olympics Vermont. Today, the Penguin Plunge is Special Olympics Vermont's largest annual fundraising effort with events in Burlington and Stratton Mountain that raise more than $550,000 to support sports training and competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities. The Penguin Plunge is a highly anticipated staple of winter in Vermont and is widely recognized as a fun team building exercise for hundreds of families, schools, and businesses.
